The 5Cs Coaching Tool
Starting a new role can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Over the past few months, I’ve been working with a number of clients navigating transitions — stepping into bigger roles, shifting teams, or thinking about what's next after retirement — and one tool has consistently helped them regain clarity and confidence.
It’s called The 5Cs of a Successful Transition, and it’s become one of my favourite frameworks to use in coaching.

The 5Cs help you pause, take stock, and refocus on what actually matters:
1. Clarity — What am I here to achieve?
2. Connections — Who do I need alongside me?
3. Capability — What do I need to learn?
4. Confidence — How do I manage self‑doubt?
5. Contribution — Where can I make an early difference?
When clients score themselves across these five areas, they stop feeling swept along by the transition and start feeling in control of it. They see where they’re strong, where they need support, and where they can take one small action to start to shift things.
I’ve watched this tool help people settle faster, feel more grounded, and step into their new roles with intention rather than urgency.
This is the first in a series where I’ll share a practical coaching tool each week — simple frameworks that create real momentum.
And if you’re someone who’s navigating change, stepping into something bigger, or wanting to feel more anchored in your own power, I’m running a £35 workshop: Stepping Into Your Power. It’s designed to help you reconnect with your strengths, manage the wobble of self‑doubt, and move forward with clarity and confidence. If you are interested, comment or send me a DM and I will send you the link to our waiting list.
But for now, I hope the 5Cs give you a moment of reflection and a sense of direction.
